Another weekend has just flown by.... here are just a couple of outtakes from this week:
Friday 15th November
  • Breakfast seminar for our clients at Raffles hotel. Though turnout wasn't as much as we hoped (32 sign ups but only 18 attendees), we managed to get a few followups, which is good.
  • Team lunch with everyone at Royal china following the seminar.

Before talking about the food, i must first say the deco really appears to ladies. The walls are a lovely Tiffany blue, with touches of porcelain, gold and white, giving it a very elegant look.

We had the executive set lunch ($38+++) which was of fairly good value and very filling. It consisted of Har gao and dim sum, crispy duck roll, pork chop/cutlet with sides of beans, crispy beancurd roll with fresh prawns, steamed fish, noodles and dessert (mango sago with pomelo).

amazingly good melt-in-your-mouth sea bass.

siew mai and har gao :)

yummy wrapped duck (awesome sauce and crispy skin), reasonable beancurd roll with prawn (very fresh)

  • Birthday dinner with W and Miao at Bistro du Vin. Before i elaborate on the food, i must first say the location is really convenient (sitting just behind shaw tower and pacific plaza), the deco is quaint and the service is impeccable. I've never had a waiter very gladly offer to read the items on the chalkboard menu to us before (because from our table we couldn't see it clearly). During our stay we never once felt we were rushed to order, make payment or leave. Service was also prompt, with our food arriving in a timely manner, the surprise birthday cake Miao deposited earlier appearing at our table at the right time, and the service staff refilling our glasses with water very promptly. As we left the staff even said happy birthday to Wei, which was lovely.

birthday girl ^__^

very extensive menu (wine on the flip side but we didnt try)

was still rather empty when we arrived (730pm) but the place became packed by 8pm!

amazingly delicious onion soup (with bits of bread inside), and above average escargot

found the confit a bit dry for my liking. Beans and tomato sauce also quite meh

Chicken stew in red wine with carrots and mushrooms, with side of mashed potato was a clear winner. Chicken was tender and juicy, the stew was flavourful. Mashed potato was really yummy.

  • Big sis bought some groupon vouchers so we went to Manhattan fish market to have a Tan family dinner :D Nothing much about the food since it was pretty average, but for a saturday night service was brisk. We got our food within 15-20 minutes and were done with the meal in less than an hour.

Sunday 17th November

  • Very normal breakfast at home. My sister bought handmade cupcakes back from work. Had the rainbow red velvet cupcake which was very yummy, though it would have been nice if there was icing on the inside as well!
  • Went with mom to the wet market to buy veggies, meat and some fruits. The bf's mom bought me a non-electric fruit juice blender after hearing i was very keen on getting one. It's now sitting at home waiting for Mom and i to put it to good use! :D Might do some research on Bali hotels, as well as phnom penh attractions for my trip next year!
